If you're driving down Elton-Adelphia Road late at night and a shadowy visage appears on horseback you may have wandered into Sleepy Hollow.
Tough to avoid reading Washington Irving's Legend of Sleepy Hollow growing up and not seeing the Headless Horseman behind every maple in the park at night. Then came along Johnny Depp, Christina Ricci and Christopher Walkin on the silver screen and I got scared a second time.
But somewhere in between the book and the movie ground broke in Freehold Township, New Jersey and the peaceful, sedate Sleepy Hollow section of Freehold NJ (or subdivision) was born.
